The Snow backdrop sets the scene as Clara is led through a magical winter wonderland alongside the Nutcracker Prince at the end of Act I. The design draws inspiration from the dense, snowy woodlands of the artist's hometown in central Wisconsin. The piece seeks to capture the atmosphere of heavy snowfall and bring the crisp northern air to warmer climates, even inside a theater. 

The deep blue palette intends to provide a striking contrast with the dancers’ white tutus under stage lighting. Inside the artwork are also subtle personal touches that pay tribute to the artist's roots, such as a hidden white-tailed deer and a pair of skis.
