Hand-painted for Act I of The Nutcracker, this grand ballroom backdrop integrates local architectural heritage into the classic ballet production. The design is inspired by the historic ballroom at the Filoli estate in Woodside, CA—chosen for its timeless beauty as well as it’s regional connection to the ballet company. The space is reimagined through a rich, jewel-toned color palette tailored for the evening party, and is custom with personal artistic modifications such as the landscape artwork within the panels.
